Fringe Festival @ St Michael’s and All Angels

Every weekend in May there’s an impressive list of concerts at St Michael’s and All Angels church.

Shin Suzuma (piano), Benedict Cruft (violin), Ellie Blackshaw (violin), Raija Walker (piano), Simon Ballard (piano), Sussex Flutes, Pavlos Carvalho, (cello), Ambrose Page (piano), Marianne Wright (soprano), Gabriel Jones (piano) and Richard Toms (organ) are the artists who will be performing solo or ensemble concerts from 3 May until 1 June as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival.

Music by Debussy Liszt, Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Beethoven, Schumann, Wolf.

Saturday 10th at 8:00pm – Lorraine Bowen’s ‘Polyester Fiesta!’ – Hilarious catwalk cabaret show celebrating 70 years of polyester fashion as seen on BBC1’s The One Show. Synthetic outfits with songs and dancing. Glam! (D)
Sunday 11th at 7:00pm – Simon Ballard, Piano – A solo recital from one of our country’s leading pianists. Music by Mozart & Beethoven (B)

Saturday 17th at 1:00pm – Sussex Flutes, Flute Quintet – Perform music by local composers, including Barry Mills & Paul Lewis (C)
Saturday 17th at 7:00pm – Ensemble Reza – The string ensemble return to perform the Sextet Op.18 by Brahms (A)
Sunday 18th at 7:30pm – String Trio – Benedict Cruft & Friends perform 3 Trios Op.9 by Beethoven (A)

Friday 23rd at 7:30pm – String Trio – Benedict Cruft & Friends return to perform Beethoven’s Serenade Op.8 & Mozart’s Divertimento K.563 (A)
Saturday 24th at 1:00pm – Raija Walker, Piano – Performs Schubert’s final, poignant Piano Sonata (C)
Saturday 24th at 7:00pm – Pavlos Carvalho, Cello – Bach’s complete works for Cello solo (A)
Sunday 25th at 7:00pm – Pavlos Carvalho, Cello – Bach’s complete works for Cello solo (A)

Saturday 31st at 1:00pm – Ambrose Page, Piano – Performs: ‘Cimarosa – The Italian Mozart’ (C)
Saturday 31st at 7:00pm – Marianne Wright, Soprano & Gabriel Jones, Piano – This popular duo return. Music by Schumann & Wolf (B)
Sunday 1st June at 7:00pm – Richard Toms, Organ – The S. Michael’s Organ provides a rousing close to our 2014 Brighton Festival Fringe series (B)
