The Whistler printed magazine has been published for over 30 years by the West Hill Community Association. The online version has been around since August 2009.
The Whistler’s aim is to keep residents of the West Hill and Seven Dials area of Brighton in touch with each other and to present an eclectic mix of news and comment.
We do our best to present a fair and balanced view, while aiming to accept material from anyone, anywhere who reads it.
We publish 6 times a year: Feb/March, April/May, June/July, Aug/Sept, Oct/Nov, Dec/Jan
See Recent Articles link on the right hand menu.

Hi there,
I heard about you from tweets about the Frontline Club last night. I’ve just watched the stream from the event. Sounds like you have a great project going and the web site does look really good.
Firstly, I just wanted to let you know about OpenlyLocal.com – they have a great directory of hyperlocal sites which is very useful and I’m encouraging more people to use it to find sites in their area, just like yours.
Secondly…..Journal Local (http://journallocal.co.uk) is a primarily a platform for hyperlocal sites…..as a whole is intended to nurture, celebrate and further hyperlocal and niche journalism…I’ll be creating web ‘things’ that help hyperlocal sites to enhance their offering and new sites that enable people to find the news and information (such as from hyperlocals) that matter to them. This will be largely based on OpenlyLocal.com to start with…
All the best in the future and keep it up!
Phil
